Funeral of Wm. Stevens
The funeral of Mr. William Stevens took place yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. R.T. Jacobs, on Mariner street, and was conducted by Rev. M.B. Wharton, D.D., of the Freemason Street Baptist Church. The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
The following were the pall-bearers: Active-Walter J. Simmons, J.W. Gilmer, S.S. Kelley, Melton Butler, Willie Beasley, Tunstall Straughan, Edward Finch and W.B. Daugherty.
Honorary-Gen. V.D. Groner, Capt. J.R. Briggs, Col. C.B. Ackiss, Hon.Gen. E. Bowden, Hon. R.G. Banks, Judge Edward Spalding, Edward Frost Sr., and Louis Bobee.
The active pall-bearers were composed of present and former employees of the deceased.
