Franco Ballerini was an Italian road racing cyclist. He was specialized in the one day classics. His greatest exploits came with his two victories in the race Paris-Roubaix (1995 & 1998). Others victories are Omloop Het Volk and Paris-Brussels. After his career he became coach of the Italian national cycling team winning the 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008 World Championship with Mario Cipollini, Paolo Bettini ( 2 x ) and Alessandro Balan.
Franco Ballerini died after an accident during a car race where he was co-driver.
