Virgie Dickerson Cole, 92, formerly of Berry, Kentucky, and a resident of Northpoint Healthcare, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 24, 2013. Born in Madison County, Kentucky, on March 19, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Cain Dickerson Virgie was the last of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and member of the Berry United Methodist Church and loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, as well as playing the harmonica and guitar.

Welcoming her arrival in heaven were: her husband of 42 years, Alson Cole, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 24, 1980; her sons, Raymond Cole and Elwood Cole; and her daughter, Fannie Cole. She is survived by: eight sons, Alson (Ruth Ann) Cole, Jr., of Cynthiana, Ronnie (Kathy) Cole, of Florence, Virgil (Darlene) Cole, of Covington, Darryl (Sue) Cole, of Cynthiana, Greg Cole, of Lexington, Ricky (Linda) Cole, of Falmouth, Jeff (Brenda) Cole, of Cynthiana, and Lonnie (Polly) Cole, of Owensboro; five daughters, Betty (Robert) Hannah, of Cynthiana, Verna Lewis, of Lexington, Linda (Roger) Fraley, of Mt. Sterling, Karen (Wayne) Stevenson, of Lexington, and Debbie (Randy) Gill, of Cynthiana; 47 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her loving family at Northpoint Healthcare Center.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, at Woodhead Funeral Home, 106 Main Street, Berry, KY 41003, with Wayne Stevenson officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her surviving sons: Alson Cole, Jr., Ronnie Cole, Virgil Cole, Darryl Cole, Greg Cole, Ricky Cole, Jeff Cole, and Lonnie Cole. The honorary pallbearers will be Timmy King, Timmy Lee, Brian Cole, David Cole, Alson Cole, III, Frankie Cole, Wayne Cole, Darryl Cole, Jr., Jeff Cole, Jr., Ricky Cole, Jr. Michael Newton, Billy Lewis, Shaun Gill, and David Lewis. The visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, preceding the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.
