According to census data, Esther Madden Porter was born in about 1849, in Ireland. Esther died April 20, 1935.

The 1925 IOWA STATE CENSUS (Edna Township, Cass County, Iowa), lists the parents of Esther Madden as "John Madden" and "Susan Smith. " The 1925 census reports that John Madden and Susan (Smith) Madden were born in Ireland; and, that they were married in Ireland.

Esther Madden and Isiah/Isaiah Commodore Porter were united in marriage on June 16, 1875, in Anita, Cass County, Iowa. (SOURCE: PORTER GENEALOGY, compiled by Wilma Lehman Tibken, Pub. 1954. PAGE 1). They became the parents of one daughter,
Susan Clarrissa Porter (1878-1965), who married Edwin Logue on February 21, 1900.

"Isiah and Esther (Madden) Porter made their home in Edna Township, lived their lives and died on the home place. Isiah resided in Edna Township since he was three years of age. MADDEN SIBLINGS:

Esther (Madden) was the sister of Thomas William Madden, Sr., (1851-1933).
In part, his 1933 obituary states that "Thomas William Madden was born October 27, 1851, near BELMONT, LAFAYETTE COUNTY, WISCONSIN. He was married to Alice Lunetta Porter, who preceded him in death in 1885." ... "He passed away [Tuesday] at the home of his son John, near Versailles, Missouri, Sept. 19, [1933]. After services there Wednesday A.M. they started for Iowa. They arrived at the Wm. Madden [Jr.] home near Wiota, [Iowa], Wednesday evening and the funeral was Thursday at 10 A.M. at the Reno M.E. Church and he was laid to rest in the Reno Cemetery."

In addition to Thomas William Madden, other known siblings are two additional brothers, Peter J. Madden; and, Robert Madden.
Peter J. Madden is buried also buried in the Reno Cemetery, in Cass County, Iowa.

Esther [Madden] Porter was laid to rest in the Reno Methodist Cemetery, Edna Township, Cass County, Iowa, beside her husband, Isaih C. Porter.
