— Leona Brothers, 94, Sand Springs, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 21, 2009.
Leona was born in Tiawah, on June 6, 1915, to Clairs E. Stout and Myrtle L. (Purdin) Stout. She graduated from Inola High School in 1934 and attended Oklahoma State University for two years. Leona was married to Aubrey Lee Brothers in Pryor, Oklahoma, on Sept. 4, 1937. They moved to Sand Springs in 1941 and enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 43 years before his death in 1980. Leona enjoyed quilting, painting, her church, and being with her beloved family. She was the co-owner of Jack and Jill Kindergarten. Leona was a member of the Sand Springs First Christian Church. She was a member of Oklahoma Mothers Club Association and a board member of Sand Springs Community Services, Inc. since 1967. Her wonderful smile and beautiful attitude will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents Clairs and Myrtle Stout; husband Aubrey Brothers; daughter Carol Sue; sisters Elsie Easterling and Clairse Dye; and brothers Clyde and Herbert Stout.
She is survived by daughters Donna Stephens and husband Glenn of Kiefer, Oklahoma, and Faylene Roth and husband Mark of Castle Valley, Utah; sons Roy Brothers and wife Joyce of Watertown, S.D., and Robert "Bob" Brothers and wife Janet of Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Leona will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Gena Jackson will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore. Visitation for Leona will be Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from 12 noon until 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Okla.
