FORMER RESIDENT DEAD

Funeral of George Alexander Held At Nelson Thursday.

George Alexander, a former resident of Nelson died Wednesday morning Feb.. 1 at 5 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Victor Boggs, at St. James, Mo.
He was born at Tyrone, Ireland, May 2, 1858, coming to this country with his parents when a youth. He was married to Miss Ida Harvey of Longwood in September, 1893. She died six years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. Boggs, at whose home he died, George A. Alexander of Kansas City, Mrs. Lillis Hartsong of St. Louis, Miss Lena May Alexander and Mrs. Mary Frances Gilbert of St. James. Ten grandchildren survive. The surviving sister and brothers are Mrs. Albert Gilespie, Nelson; John Alexander and Joe Alexander, Los Angeles, Ca.. and Will Alexander of Rocheport, Mo.
For a number of years Mr. Alexander with his brother Mr. Will Alexander operated a livery barn at Nelson Mo., leaving there in 1922. He is well known throughout the eastern part of the county. He was a devoted member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1:39 at the Presbyterian church in Nelson. Burial was in the Nelson cemetery beside his wife.
Mr. George W. Alexander of 456 West Arrow is a nephew of the deceased and he and his wife attended the service at Nelson today.
