Emmeline (Linebrink) Peterson, daughter of Frederick and Mary Linebrink, was born in Tiffin Township, Defiance County, Ohio; August 5, 1857. She was united in marriage to John W. Peterson, January 1, 1880. Their family consisted of three sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy. About 40 years ago, she with her husband were converted in a revival meeting conducted by Rev. Dennis at the Tiffin River U.B. church and united with that class and continued their membership there until they moved onto their present home farm, when the Trinity Evangelical church was built, they united with this class, where she continued to be a faithful member. She was a willing worker for the Master and was always up and doing. She was a kind friend, a generous neighbor, a loving and affectionate wife and mother. She has been known in the community as one who was ever ready to share with the needy and render willing services to her friends and neighbors, who will miss her sympathy in sickness and trouble. But trust their loss in her eternal gain and though they feel deeply to mourn, yet they mourn not as those who have no hope. For some time she has been in declining health, but her many friends did not think that the end would come so soon. She departed this earthly life early Saturday morning, October 22, 1921, at the age of 64 years, two months and 18 days and leave to mourn, a husband, two sons, Clarence and Mansford Peterson, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Crites, four grandchildren, Ford Peterson, John Wesley Peterson and Oliver and Arthur Crites, all living within a few miles of the home place. The funeral was held from the Trinity Evangelical church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Joseph Shepard of Stryker and assisted by Rev. DeWitt of Defiance, Ohio. The remains were laid to rest in the Evansport cemetery.
