Agnes Alvey Varble, 96, of Bon Harbor Nursing Center, Owensboro, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 1996, at Bon Harbor Nursing Center. She was born in McLean County and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Owensboro. She was retired from General Electric as an inspector and was a homemaker. Her husband, Homer Varble, died in 1969. Survivors include two sons, William J. "Jack" Varble of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and John Varble of Owensboro; two daughters, Sue Cockrill of Tuckerman, Ark., and Iva Hubbard of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, H.H. Alvey of Hartford; and a sister, Mary Rose Gish of Reed. Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis Chapel. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
