My great-grandfather Boruch Peizner immigrated to the U.S., where he would be known as Barnet or "Bernard" Posner, in 1904. He departed Bremen for Ellis Island on the SS Friedrich der Grosse on Aug 13, & arrived at Ellis on Aug 23, 1904. His last place of residence was shown on the ship manifest as Butrminazi (alternate spelling, Butrimantsy), which is in Lithuania.
His wife Ciwie Peisner(Celia Posner)came with children Feige (Fannie), Riwe (Rivka, Becky), and Dawid (Dave) in 1908 from Berezino in Russia, departing Liverpool on the RMS Lucania. Oldest son Abe came earlier, arriving at Ellis Island on July 18, 1905, via Bremen & the SS Grosser Kurfurst.
On the various ship manifests, Boruch's last name is spelled Peizner, with Z, as is son Abe's last name. Ciwie & the other children have the last name spelled Peisner, with S.
The name for all would eventually become Posner.
Bernard was paternal grandfather to my mother & her siblings. (Sylvia, Mildred, Fran, & Phil Posner.)
Birth year for Barnet is based on age at time of immigration, as I have no birth certificate or similar from Russia (or Lithuania.)
