Jacob Peter Belus, 82, of Clearmont, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo. Vigil services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Baptist Church in Buffalo. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Interment will follow in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Belus was born April 10, 1926, on Dutch Creek in Sheridan County to Dorothy (Mikula) and John Belus. He enjoyed hiking, gardening, and working at his ranch. A member of Knights of Columbus and St. John the Baptist Church, he graduated from Holy Name School. He was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Steve, Joe, Martin, Mike, and Andy; and two sisters, Val and Elizabeth. Survivors include two brothers, Cy Belus of Sheridan and Phil Belus of Buffalo; two sisters, Ann Ballek of Columbus, Mont., and Mary St. Luke Belus of Dubuque, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may benefit Holy Name School, St. John the Baptist Church in Buffalo, or donor's choice. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
