Samuel Oyler was born in Dec 1821 in Hawkhurst, England. In 1828 at age 6 he traveled to New York with his family. He grew up farming in the Crosby Twp of Hamilton County, Ohio. On 25 Dec 1850 he married Mary Ann Haise in Lawrenceburg, IN. While farming in Harrison Twp. he had three children Sophia, Elenora and Charles. Around 1858 they moved to Washington, IN. Here two more children were born, Benjamin and Mary. Apparently Samuel died here in 1863. It is believed that in later years, Ben erected the large tombstone. After his death, the family moved back to Harrison Twp. Ohio and they lived with Samuel's father George Oyler.
