Some records show her maiden name as Flowers, and so she may have first been married to a Mr. Shroufe.

She was the second wife of Adam Maggard. (His first wife was Polly Jenkins, who had died around 1825).

Sarah married Adam on March 13, 1828. They continued to live on his parent's homestead in Johnson Township, Ohio until 1851, when they migrated to Noble County, Indiana. They settled in Sparta Township.

Some people state that she died on the same day as her husband, March 4, 1853. Further research is needed.

NOTE: Members of the Maggard family also spelled their name as "Maggart."
