At 66 Vine St, Salt Lake City, where he has resided for many years, Sidney Hudson died Thursday morning, March 23, 1911, at the age of 89 years. He is survived by four sons, Byron Watson Hudson of Milford, Michigan, William Myron Hudson of Los Angeles, California, Frank McClure Hudson, of Pontiac, Michigan, and George Elbert Hudson of New York City, New York. Sidney Hudson was the third in a family of twelve children. He was born Jan, 21, 1822, in Short Hills, Canada, to which place his parents, Mr and Mrs Isaiah Jennings Hudson had removed for a short time, and previously to New York State. Two or three years later the family returned to Wheatlands, NY and in 1830 came to Michigan territory by team, and located in the wilderness along the Huron River about two and one half miles below the present village of Milford. Assisting his father in the various tasks incident to the development of the homestead, Mr Hudson grew to manhood. He purchased the old homesite from his parents and married Nancy Maria Austin, March 12 1848. Mr Hudson always held strong religious convictions and early on, united with the Baptist Church in Wixom. His sympathies were ever with the down trodden and oppressed. In 1889 with a desire to accomplish reforms in social conditions he left home and friends and devoted the remaining years of his life largely to works of charity and reforms in religious and political practices in Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral occured in the home of BW Hudson on Wednesday afternoon, Red H M Lawson officiating.
