Obituary:
Mrs. Marjorie Demchuk, age 85, of Grand Haven passed away, Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Heartwood Hospice. She was born November 17, 1923 to Layton and Lillian (Getts) Arend in Cleveland, OH and has lived in the area most of her life. She worked as an office clerk for Grand Transformers for many years and later worked in the office at the Senior Center. She was proud of her service in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Women for Military Service for America. She was also a member of the NOCH young people guild and the Senior Center. She is survived by 2 daughters: Cheryl (Jim) Quebbeman of Kalamazoo and Karen (Jerry) Sitzer of Grand Haven; 5 grandchildren: Trever (Melissa) Andersen, Matthew Quebbeman, Erin LaFollette, Erica (Chris Moore) Sitzer and Bridget Sitzer; and 6 great-grandchildren: Jacob LaFollette, Braydon and Bryce Moore, Lauren Andersen, Anthony and Brandon Ledyard. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings, Kathy Grimm and Raymond (Fran) Arend.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place 10:30 AM Monday, August, 24, 2009 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Father William Langlois as celebrant. Visitation with the family will be 5-8 PM Sunday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Memorial contributions may be given to North Ottawa County Council on Aging or Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Interment will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery.
