1883 Wilkes County NC Directory: Jabez Hendren had a Flour and Grist Mill on the Brushy Mountains. Jabez and Edward Hendren were two of the principal farmers at that time. Hendren Mill was located just above the cemetery on Rocky Creek.

Jabez E. Hendren, Wilkes Co NC resident, was a 19-year-old farmer who enlisted 5 April 1862 as a Private. He was mustered into Co F NC 52nd Infantry on 8 April 1862. He was killed on 3 July 1863 at Gettysburg PA.
