Young Jolo Man Killed Sunday in One-Car Crash
Perry Stacy, 19, of Jolo, was killed instantly, and a companion injured, in a one-vehicle crash near Bradshaw Sunday at 4 a.m.
Stacy was thrown from the car and killed instantly. Vernon Sparks, 40, also of Jolo, suffered facial and upper body injuries but was not admitted to the hospital.
Deputy Paul Taylor said the vehicle apparently failed to negotiate a curve and skidded over the mountain, rolling about 150 feet down the mountainside and coming to a stop against some trees.
The accident occurred on Secondary Rt. 8345, six miles east of Bradshaw.
Police have not pinpointed the driver of the vehicle, and were investigating the belief that a third male was in the car when it wrecked.
The victim was a native of Jolo and would have been 20 years old Nov. 11. He was a son of Lee and Bertha Rife Stacy of Jolo.
Survivors include 10 brothers, Otis, Curtis, Darrell, Dennis, Dennie and Woodrow Stacy at home, Roger Stacy of Anderson, Ind., Terry Stacy of Ijamsville, Md., and Coy and Howard Stacy of Jolo; four sisters, Mrs. Gaye Rodgers of Jefferson, Ohio, Dorothy Stacy of Bristol, Tenn., and Lorene and Josephine Stacy of the home; the grandfather, William Stacy of Hanover.
Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Mary Lou Regular Baptist Church on State Line Ridge, Bradshaw Mountain, by the Elders Delbert Justice and Elbert Justice. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery at Paynesville.
The body will be taken from Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger to the home today at 2 p.m.
