Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Arogs Congregational Christian Church for Ethel "Pinky" SMILEY, 88, Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, formerly of Argos, who died at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born Oct. 1, 1898 in Greensburg to William and Rosie KING. She had lived most of her life in Marshall and Fulton counties. On Oct. 4, 1918 in Rochester she married Vern SMILEY, who died Jan. 1, 1987. She formerly worked in the dietary department of the Talma School system, and attended the Argos Congregational Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret VanderHEYDEN, South Bend, and Caroll FLORIAN, Walkerton; five sons, Julius "Sam" SMILEY, Tippecanoe; Richard [SMILEY], Argos; Paul [SMILEY], Rochester, Kenneth [SMILEY], Logansport, and Jimmy [SMILEY], St. Joseph, Mich.; twenty-six grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
The Rev. Ray HALTERMAN will officiate. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
