Funeral service for Mrs. Idelle Jones, age 86, will be held at 11 am today at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Dr. Tom Harrison, Dr. Larry Williams, and Rev. Dale Oden. Interment will follow at Pines Memorial Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
Idelle rejoined her beloved husband, Marvin Jones, on the date of his birthday and their 66th wedding anniversary. She was loved and respected as a pastor's wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Idelle was known in the insurance industry where she served for over 50 years in Arkansas and Louisiana. She shared her husband's commitment to Christian ministry and devoted her life to building churches, teaching the Bible to young women, and counseling families. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA, past president of the Quota Club of Ruston, and a member of the Insurance Women of Louisiana.
She is survived by her children, Angela Sparks and husband, Greg of Madison MS, Deborah Durham and husband, Michael of Lake Anna, VA, Jerry Jones of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Lara Festervan, Jennifer Schulz, David Durham, L. Cpl. Michael Jones, USMC, and Sarah Jones; sisters, Lula Baker and Loney Ward; great grandchildren, Eli Schulz, Benjamin Schulz, Dillon Schulz, nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be L. Cpl. Michael Jones, USMC, Herschel Milner, Rob Stockton, Ron Festervan, and James Davison.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Lemke, Lawson Swearingen, and Dr. Virgil Orr.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Chad Hargon , the staff of Odyssey Hospice, and the staff of Live Oak Retirement Community.
Visitation will be held today from 9:30 am till service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
