Jenny Mathews Johnson, 80, of Winchester (formerly of Berea), died Friday, July 10, 2009 at her residence. She was a Hurricane, Alabama native born Nov. 1, 1928, daughter of the late Fannie Ketchum Azbill. Jenny had been a resident of Clark and Madison counties most of her life. She was a retired employee of Madison Manor Nursing Home, Certified Nursing Assistant, past Secretary of Madison County Republican Club, Rotaryann, and member of Glades Christian Church.

Survivors include 4 children, Deanna (Vernon) Johnson Shelton, Dianna Johnson-Hood, both of Winchester, James (J.J.) Howard (Kathy) Johnson of Waco, Beverly Virginia Johnson of Richmond; 1 sister, Betty Hensley of LaGrange; 7 grandchildren, Tommy, Robbie, Natalie Susann, Jimmy, Stephen, Kristopher, ShaMarlee; 1 great grandchild, Makayla Raye. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Johnson; and her step-father, Jimmy Azbill.

Funeral Service 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Glades Christian Church in Berea, with Pastor Mitch Vader and Arthur Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Berea Cemetery. Visitation 5:00 to 9:00 PM Monday at the church. Pallbearers will be Orville Calico, Ken Clark, Jeff Baugh, Mitchell Romans, Byran Perkins, and Craig Gadd. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Michael Evans, Vernon Gibbs, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Johnson, Noel Johnson, Kristopher Johnson, Tommy Shelton, Robbie Garnett, Dick Piercefield, Shelby Mathews, Michael Allen, David Faulkner, Steven Dooley, Troy Hensley and Brian Evans.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimers Association.
