Clarice, 91, passed away at the HospiceCare Facility. She was born the daughter of Peder & Jennie (Sveen) Haugen, on the family homestead in Bottineau. Clarice was married to James R. Thayer on May 30, 1940. She is survived by her six children, Judy (Bob) Kelchner, Diane (Louis) Loui, Connie (Daniel) Downing, Pam Waddell (Daniel Hurley), Geneva Jensen (Bill Brooks), and Peter Thayer; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, John Haugen; sister, Carol Young; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Clarice was preceded in death by her husband, James Thayer; son, Lester Thayer; granddaughter, Sherry Barry, and great-granddaughter, Brooke Joseph; and son in law, Dennis Jensen. Funeral services were held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, Madison, with the Rev. Ken Smith presiding.
