John Sill was born in Bellmont Co., Ohio, Jan. 20.1826. In early manhood he was married to Elizabeth Slusher of Amalaga, Ohio. To this union six children were born, two of whom are living, F.D. Sill of Atwood, Kansas and Mrs. Emma Whitson of Logan. He was a soldier in the Union army, serving three years in Company C., 116 Reg., Ohio Volunteers. He lived a long useful life until late in years he was stricken with paralysis. He was a conscientious Christian of the United Brethren faith. He came to Kansas in 1870 with his two daughters, Ella and Emma.
