Married Agnes Lorena Long on January 26, 1923 at St Joseph, Daviess Co, KY. They were blessed with three daughters and one son. After his wife Lorena died, Adrian married Mary Irene Calhoun Clayton, widow of Charles Lemuel Clayton.

Joseph Adrian Alvey, 97, of 6904 Kentucky 56, Owensboro, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. He was born in Daviess County and retired as a farmer, a carpenter and from the Mount St. Joseph maintenance department. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Father Connor Council 6101 and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was the oldest member of the Knights of Columbus in Kentucky, where he held numerous offices, and was a former Grand Knight. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. His wife, Lorena Alvey, died in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Mary Irene Alvey; a son, Joseph N. Alvey of Pueblo, Colo.; three daughters, Mary L. Thompson, Wilma A. Jones and Margaret Alvey, all of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mae Ola Payne of Owensboro. Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Sorgho. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in St. Joseph. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
