Philantropist. The Vicente Ferrer foundation carries out humanitarian projects in Andhra, bring aid to some of the world's poorest people. He arrived in India in 1952 as a jesuit missionary (despite he late left the order) and was expelled in 1968 by the Indian authorities who were suspicious of his activities. When he returned a year later, the prime minister, Indira Gandhi, granted his activities in the poverty-stricken state of Andhra. He received the Premio Príncipe de Asturias in 1998. He died in Anantapur. Ferrer will be buried in Bathalapalli (India).
