Elmer Trout, 77, Brazil, died at 3:38 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, Terre Haute.

He was born July 14, 1931, in Clay County, as the son of Otis and Grace James Trout. He graduated from Brazil High School and began a career as owner and operator of T&S TV Services. In recent years, he had also worked as a corrections officer with the Indiana Department of Correction until his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, NASCAR races, playing and listening to blue grass music and spending time with his family.

He married Joy Thompson March 17, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charles, Wayne, and James Trout.

He is survived by his wife Joy, two daughters Rita Boetjer and husband Mark, Brazil and Suzan Bass and husband Tom, one son, Steve Trout and wife Connie, Brazil, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three brothers George, Ron and Richard Trout, two sisters, Norma Cox, Texas, and Mary Lou Evans, Missouri, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, with burial to follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Carbon United Methodist Church, 14710 N. Poplar, Carbon, IN 47837.
