WESTWOOD Naomi (Schleicher) Padell, 81, formerly of Westwood and Tampa FL, died suddenly on Saturday, May 23rd, 2009. Beloved wife of the late Leon M. Padell. Loving mother of Jeffrey Padell and wife Susan of East Walpole, Thomas Padell and wife Nancy of Braintree, Susan Padell Labonte and husband Robert of Shrewsbury and Andrew Padell of Tampa, FL, and 8 grandchildren: Joe, Eli, Dan, Sean, Lindsay, Robby, Rachel and Renee. Also survived by her brother Ernest Schleicher of Reading PA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109) Westwood on Friday, June 5th from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday morning June 6th at 10 a.m. Following the service, burial will take place at St. Josephs Cemetery, West Roxbury. Prior to raising her four children, Naomi was a member of the last class of WWII Cadet Nurses. She was a graduate of Abington Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Abington, PA, 1948, and spent the last six months at Cushing VA Hospital. Naomi went on to Hartford Hospital, where she was a head nurse in the Department of Neurosurgery under Dr. William Scoville. The nursing school friendships she made stayed strong, and lasted through her years. In 1990 she retired to Tampa where she, Leon and son Andrew owned Filterfresh Coffee Service of Tampa Bay. In 2007 she suffered a traumatic brain injury, and returned to Massachusetts to rehabilitate. Naomi is remembered fondly by countless friends and people she touched, most recently the residents and staff at Whitney Place Assisted Living in Northborough. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Spaulding Rehab. Hospital, c/o Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Boston, MA 02114, with Naomi Padell in the Memo field. Donations will be directed to the Brain Injury program, in her memory.

Naomi Schleicher Padell, 81, formerly of Tamaqua, Westwood, Mass., and Tampa,
Fla., died unexpectedly May 23.

She was a daughter of Clayton Peters Schleicher and Estella Wehr Schleicher, who
had a general store in Clamtown in the 1930s.

Naomi was a 1946 graduate of Tamaqua High School.

She was a graduate of Abington Memorial Hospital Nursing School, Abington, in
1948. She was a member of the last class of World War II Cadet Nurses. She was
employed at Cushing VA Hospital and then went on to Hartford Hospital, where she
was a head nurse in the Department of Neurosurgery under Dr. William Scoville,
prior to leaving nursing to raise her four children. The nursing school
friendships she made stayed strong and lasted through her years.

Naomi was active in her church and was a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution.

She helped her husband, Leon, run several businesses. In 1990, they retired to
Tampa, where she, Leon and a son, Andrew, owned and operated Filterfresh Coffee
Service of Tampa Bay.
In 2007, she suffered a traumatic brain injury and returned to Massachusetts to
rehabilitate.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leon M. Padell, and the loving mother of
Jeffrey Padell and
his wife, Susan, East Walpole, Mass., Thomas Padell and his wife, Nancy,
Braintree, Mass., Susan Padell Labonte and her husband, Robert, Shrewsbury,
Mass., and Andrew Padell, Tampa, Fla. She is also survived by eight
grandchildren, Joe, Eli, Dan, Sean, Lindsay, Robby, Rachel and Renee; a brother,

Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury, Mass.
