Clarence Brooks from Alhambra, California, was fatally injured in a midget race at the National Orange Show Stadium.
His car went out of control and was hit by Bill Homeier. Brook's car flipped and and he was pinned underneath it.
Clarence Brooks was originally from Sioux city, IA, and raced midgets there before moving south to Kansas where he raced in Kansas, Oklahoma and maybe Texas. He was injured in a road accident during the war and his left leg never really healed correctly and there was a possibility of having it amputated. He apparently moved to California after the war and was killed at the Orange Show Stadium. If you've seen photos of the car he was driving you'll notice that the belly pan was extended on the left side so he didn't have to bend his leg much.
