James King was born in County Roscommon in c. 1832. He was married to Cecilia Finneran in Boyle, Ireland on April 17, 1854. He came with her to this country sometime soon after their marriage and they settled on Cherry St. in Newark, New Jersey. James fought on the Union side during the Civil War. He trained in Military Park. James and Cecilia had seven children. Two of their children died in infancy. Their other children were Mary J., James Patrick, Francis J., John Joshup, and Thomas L. James died in c. 1874 but a record found may indicate that he died on July 19, 1875 in Newark. He is remembered.
