Pioneer resident of Minco Passes Away

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the Quayle Funeral Home for John Curtis, pioneer resident of Minco, with Rev. W.V. Philliber, pastor of the local Baptist Church officiating.

Music was furnished by a quartet compsed of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Woodworth, Miss Patricia Woodworth and Mrs. W.A. Vandament. Songs were "The ninety and nine" "Near The Cross" "What a Friend we have in Jesus."

Obituary

John Curtis was born near Minco, Oklahoma on May 22, 1875 [son of Robert and Dicey Curtis] and passed away at his home in Minco May 1, 1947 at the age of 72 years. His death was very sudden and was a shock to his family and neighbors.

In 1898 he was united in marriage to Johnnie Maud Dean, to this union one daughter Belle Curtis was born.

Twelve years later in 1910 he was married to Mary Belle Blankenship. Th this union four sons and two daughters were born. His survivors are his wife, four sons, John Curtis Jr., George Woodrow Curtis, Marcus Bradley Curtis and Hubert Jerry Curtis, who is in the Marines, two daughters Marion LaRue Curtis and Belle Andrew Curtis.
