He married Rebecca Bird on May 21st, 1804 at Burwell, in Lincolnshire. The marriage record reads:
"Benjamin Scaman of the Parish of Swaby, Bachelor and Rebecca Bird of this Parish, Spinster, were married in this Church by Licence this 21st Day of May 1804, by me Wm. Sifson Curate..."
Benjamin emigrated with his family to Canada. They settled in the Port Hope area of Durham County, Ontario.
