The death, June 27, 1991 of Mrs. Teddie Biggs Alford in New Roads, marked the passing of one of Pointe Coupee's oldest living residents. The last surviving member of her generation of her family, she had marked her 99th birthday only 17 days before—June 10, 1991.
Born in Mayersville, Miss., and a former longtime resident of Issaquena County, Miss., she had been a resident of New Roads for 46 years, and remained active and alert until the very final years of her life. She was the widow of C.E. Alford Sr., and mother of the widely-known, beloved longtime Pointe Coupee Parish Library figure—Mrs. Mary Jane Robinson of New Roads—with whom she made her home.
An affable, personable lady devoted to succeeding generations of her family, she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Robinson; by a granddaughter, Elise Cook, Rolling Fork, Miss.; four grandsons, Oliver S. Robinson III, New Roads; Charles Edward Robinson, Plaquemine, Floyd Alford Robinson, Houston, Texas, and C.E. Alford III of Rolling Fork; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. Alford Sr.; a son, C.E. Alford Jr.; and two sisters, Nell B. Alford and Maude B. Finley. The Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville, was in charge arrangements.
Religious services were conducted at The Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church in Rolling Fork, Miss., Saturday, June 29, 1991 at 4p.m., with interment in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allen, Miss.
