He was the only son of Professor Jacob Baer, who was principal in the Highland IL School for several years in the latter years of 1850's.
Erwin Baer took up photography when he was in his teens; he conducted that business east of the public square in Highland, in the company with Adolph Suppiger, until he enlisted in Company I, 149th ILL Volunteers, where he served until the close of the war, after which he located in Prescot, Ariz., where he conducted an up-to-date photo gallery. Eight years ago he came to Los Angeles and was an inmate of the Soldier's Home at Sawtelle, where he died on the 8th of August, and was laid to rest in the Cemetery of the Home.
He was 77 years old and leaves a sister Mrs. Adolph Suppiger, (177363659) 3 nephews, Albert Suppiger of Booklyn, N.Y., Irvin of Los Angles and Miss Louisa of Los Angles, and Nina Dean of Port Angelus, Washington, and a son Orville, in New Mexico.
