Michael Krone was born in York County April 17, 1832, the son of Philip & Mary Slagle Krone. and was the husband of Cynthia Doyle Krone, whom he married on March 22, 1859, in Macon County, Illinois. In 1860, he may have been a farmer living in Fairview Township, York County, but he is not on the census, and his marriage location suggests he may not have been in York County at the time. He was, however, back home by no later than the late summer of 1864 (see below). He stood 5' 9" tall and had black hair and black eyes. In 1880, he resided in Middletown, Dauphin County, and, in 1890, was living in Newberry Township, York County. He died in York Borough at age 57-9-17.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg August 18, 1864, with Co. D, 201st Pa Inf, serving at the rank of private until honorably discharged with his company on June 21, 1865.
