John Hammett is my beloved Dad. He has been gone for over 30 years but not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He was one the most caring and kind people I have ever known. He looked out for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

It has been hard for me to write this. I have so many wonderful memories because this man has always been such a big part of my life. I was so blessed to have a Dad who cared for and loved his family. He guided us but was careful not to judge and criticize. He wants only the best for his children and most of all he wanted us to be happy in our life. He knew what was really important in life and held it close to his heart. It is one of the lessons I have always remembered. It is sometimes hard to let go of the past and let go of hard feelings but Dad always said to be the best person you can be, don't let others drag you down and sink to their level. I still remind myself of that when dealing with less than honorable people.

Dad was a simple man and who loved his family,

Many thanks to my cousin Sharon for sponsoring my Dad's memorial. It is deeply appreciated and means the world to me.

John worked as a machinist before he retired. He had three children Marian, John, and Jane.

He is the grandfather of three-John, Laura, and Gloria. At the time of his death he was also survived by his sister Mabel, and brothers Harry, Edward, and Roy. He is also the grandfather of Robert Jennings and Dale Bartush.

Services were from the Vander May Colonial Funeral Home in Wayne New Jersey.

I remember my mom being very friendly with his family and I know she spoke highly of her ex-brother-in-law. I do remember he was in a bad accident one night and walked with a limp afterwards. I found his grave recently and thought he should be remembered.

Uncle John, Marian is going to take over as owner of your memorial soon. I sponsored your site to always keep our connection, but she can do a better job in honoring you. She loves and misses you so much. I can't wait to see what she does and says about you. I wish I had a chance to have known you better. I know she thinks the world of you. With

Love always....your niece Sharon
