World War I veteran; U. S. Navy. Born on the family farm in Kragero township near Milan, he was the son of Andrew Berglund and Anna Katherine (Wickre) Olson. Before he graduated from high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. On graduation night, a flag was placed on his chair and was presented to his mother during the ceremony. He served in World War I as a PHMLC, U. S. Navy. When he was 21, he was working as a farm laborer for Harry Palmer in May township, Washington County, Minnesota. When he was 32, he was working as a hired man for Clarence M. Broecker in May township. He married Henrietta (maiden name unknown), a native of Pennsylvania. They had one daughter, Kay. He died from cancer of the voice box when he was 45 years of age. Members from the Milan American Legion attended his funeral, serving as color guards. He was buried on October 3, 1944.
