Verla Spears, daughter of the late Henry Allard and Ollie Amick Allard, was born on August 16, 1915 at Kennett and departed this life in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri on March 20, 2009 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Spears was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church near Dexter, a home-maker and resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to LeRoy Spears on June 18, 1930 at Kennett. Mr. Spears preceded her in death on January 16, 1970.

She is survived by one son, Grady Spears of Dexter; by five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and twenty-four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Spears.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Monday, March 23, 2009 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Funeral services will then be conducted Monday at 10:30 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dean Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Dunklin County Memorial Park Cemetery in Kennett.
