Isabel Martinez, 76, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at Living Water Church. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Isabel was born Jan. 2, 1933, to Luis and Josefa Garza in Rio Hondo. She graduated with licensed practical nurse certification in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was employed in her profession.
Isabel married Lazaro Martinez on Oct. 27, 1956, becoming a pastor's wife. Together they pastored and pioneered several Assemblies of God churches. She was preceded in death by a son, John Martinez; sister, Otila Kohlenberg; brother, Solomon Garza; and her parents.
Survivors: Husband, Lazaro Martinez; children, Gilbert Martinez and wife, Suzanne, Robert Martinez, Jodell Cook, Deborah Martinez and Abraham Martinez and wife, Susan; brothers, Eliesar Garza, Absalom Garza, Fred Garza and Abraham Garza; sisters, Eloise Garza, Leonor Oliver, Febe Schoch, Abigail Arguijo and Ana Goldstar; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
