Kumiko "Kate" Yoshihara, 91, of Lafayette, a one-time Brighton farm owner, died April 15, 2006, at LifeCare Center in Westminster.
Kate was born Oct. 19, 1914, in Los Angeles to Matsu and Kyukichi (Ishii) Gyotoku. She married Yasutaro Yoshihara Feb. 14, 1934, in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death in 1979.
She was a resident of Lafayette since 1948, moving from Camp Amache Relocation Center in Granada, Colorado in 1945. The couple bought land and farmed in Brighton before opening Lafayette Florist in 1948.
Kate was a member of the Tri State Denver Buddhist Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers Earl Ishii and her twin brother, who died as an infant preceded.
Survivors include three sons, Gene Yoshihara of Broomfield, Jim Yoshihara of Lafayette and Don Yoshihara of Broomfield; two daughters, Joyce Tani of Northglenn and Ann Murphy of Lafayette; three brothers, Jim Ishii of Pasadena, Calif., Tom Ishii of Michigan and Hank Ishii of Los Angeles.
A funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Tri State Denver Buddhist Temple, 1947 Lawrence St., Denver. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Lafayette Cemetery in Lafayette. A reception will follow at the First United Methodist Church of Lafayette, 1275 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.
