Mrs. Maud Purcell Claimed By Death
The Angel of death came to claim the sweet spirit of Mrs. Maude Purcell, wife of Mr. Homer A. Purcell, at her home in Liberty community, on last Saturday, February 21st after a month's illness of cancer. She was 44 years old at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held from the Prospect Methodist church Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Rev. Z. V. Hawks and Rev. Wm. E. Purcell had charge of the services. Interment was in Prospect cemetery. A large concourse of friends attended the funeral to pay their respects to her fine Christian character.
Mrs. Purcell was born in Banks county but made her home in Franklin for many years and was one of the most beloved women in her community. She was a devout Christian and took an active part in church and Sunday School work. She was especially a great lover of music and added much to the song service of the church. She was devoted to her family, kind and considerate to her friends, loyal to her church and obliging to her neighbors. She will be greatly missed, not only in the home but by every one who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Homer A. Purcell; five sons, Kermit, Noal, J. B., Alford and Malon Purcell; two daughters, Mozell and Marion Purcell; mother Mrs. A. S. Whitfield, Toccoa; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. P. M. Purcell, Ashland; Mrs. Sam Kesler, Toccoa; Mr. J. E. Whitfield, Mize; Mr. Thomas Whitfield, Shamrock, Texas; Mrs. H. E.
