Born about 1604 ("aged seventy-seven years or thereabout" on 7 October 1681. A planter who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1632 on the "Lyon."
First settled in Cambridge; moved to Hartford in 1636, & to Norwalk in 1652. Died between 7 October 1681 (date of will) and 9 February 1681/2 (date of inventory).
Married: (1) By an unknown date _____ _____ (said to be a widow Hayes, perhaps because of the bequest by Nathaniel Richards to Samuel Hayes). On 22 September 1659 John Winthrop Jr. at Norwalk treated "Richards, Nathaniel his wife."
Married: (2) New Haven 15 March 1663/4 Rosamond Lindall, widow of Henry Lindall. On 21 May 1666 John Winthrop Jr. treated "Lendall, [blank], daughter of Rosamond Richards of Norwack." Rosamond died after 12 May 1682.

"Nathaniel Richards died Jan 33, 1681-2 mar Rosamond ( ) Lindall widow of Henry Lindall who died Nov 25, 1683. Name on Founders Monument. Came in the 'Lion' Sept 16, 1632; freeman Mass. Nov 6, 1632; one of the proprietors at Cambridge 1633; removed to Hartford 1636; an original prorietor; his home lot in 1639 was near the north bank of the Little River about where the west part of Pearl St. now is; constable 1642, 1650; townsman 1645; one of the signers of the agreement for the planting Norwalk June 19, 1650, and removed there soon after; sold his dwelling house and land in Hartford to William Phillips May 29, 1651; deputy from Norwalk Oct 1658; selectman 1670; third in the lit of estates in 1673 #268. Savage says that he left all his estate to the husbands of four daughters of his wife Rosamnd by her former husband Henry Lindall."
