Emelia M. Thomsen the third child born to Carl T. Thomsen and Maren nee:Schendorff 25 Feb 1886, Gayville, Yankton,SD. Prior to her marriage she was employed at the Mitchell Power Co.
She married Wilford W. Barnard 18 June 1927 in Mitchell,Davison,SD. Her husband was a widower with two daughters:

Beradine Barnard b:22 Aug 1910
Marlene Barnard b: 13 Apr 1913

In Feb 1929 the family moved to Long Beach,CA. They had one son together.

Wilford E. (Bill) Barnard b:08 Mar 1929

Wilford worked for an oil drilling company for one and one half years and then opened an auto body repair shop. The early years of the business were difficult, but finally thrived.

In 1949 they planned to retire to Sierra Madre and built a duplex there, one unit was to be a rental. They moved in March 1949, however her husband passed away form a heart attack on 10 Jun 1949. Her son Bill cared for her until her death on 19 Nov 1974. She and her husband are both buried in Sunnyside Cemetery, Long Beach, CA.
