I Did Not Die

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Melinda Sue Pacho

My Dad lost his life due to the rare, brain disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy also called Steel-Richardson-Olszewski syndrome, named this after the three scientists who first discovered it in 1963. It is generally shortened to PSP.
This is a disease that is found all over the world and usually manifests later in life. However, it can begin as early as the 40's and 50's but usually more near the age of 60 years. The disorder seems to be more predominant in males than in females.
Progressisve Supranuclear Palsy is a degenerative disease of the brain. It affects the brain and the pea sized structures above the nuclei of the brain and affects the nervous system that controls motor movements or skills. Thus it has similar sympotoms of Parkinson's Disease this can easily lead to misdiagnosis in some patients.
Unfortunately there is no known cure for this malady, also no known causes which makes this disease all the more heart wrenching. The causes are unknown but science is trying very hard to unlock the secrets of this disease.
