William homsteaded a farm in Oklahoma and after having "proved up" traded it for a livery stable in Supply, Oklahoma. After 30 years William sold the livery and moved to Yoder, Wyoming. Martha Ella's parents were already living in Wyoming (moving there from Missouri). Martha Ella and the children were driven to Wyoming in a Model T Ford by a hired driver. William became a successful beet grower. He later sold the farm and moved back to Missouri.
