Hope Manwaring Williams

Hope passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday Dec. 6, 2001 in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Born March 28, 1918 at Naples, Utah she was a twin daughter of David Elmer and Leona Goodrich Manwaring. She spent her early years in Vernal and Roosevelt /Ballard areas of the Uintah Basin. As one of the "Manwaring Sisters" she and her sisters sang extensively for all occasions. She attended Utah State University on a music scholarship. Hope loved music, literature, her family and the Lord.

She was an accomplished artist, writer, pianist and organist. She wrote "Grafted by Need" which was published in the Relief Society Magazine, and was awarded 1st prize in the Deseret News "Christmas I Remember Best" contest. Her oil paintings have added beauty to the homes of family and friends over the years. She was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church. She served in the Primary, Young Women's, Relief Society, served as Ward Chorister, and was Ward Organist for many years.

She married Grant Griffiths Williams on June 5, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Spanish Fork. She moved with Grant on his many different assignments with the Forest Service to Panguitch Utah, Richfield Utah, Juneau Alaska and Salt Lake City. She is remembered by all those who knew her as a kind, tender, and loving soul.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four sisters, Genevieve M. Mangum, Hazel M. Hilbig, her twin June M. Andreasen, and Venice M. Bascom. She is survived by her son, Nelson Glenn Williams (wife, Marsha) and three grandchildren, Allison, Elise, and Victoria.

The funeral service will be held at the Spanish Fork 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 300 E. Center Street, in Spanish Fork, on Saturday Dec. 15, 2001 at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the chapel one hour prior to the services. A viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary at 200 South Main Street in Spanish Fork.

Interment will be at the Old Tucker Cemetery in Spanish Fork Canyon when weather permits. Funeral services will be under the direction of Walker Mortuary, Spanish Fork.
