MAULDIN-- Carol ``Jane'' McCarty , 61. She was born to Vernon Clay and Madelyn McCarty on January 19, 1936 in Tulsa. Departed this world on October 27, 1997.

Graduated Tulsa Central, Class of 1954.
She worked for Floyd Gates Studio in Tulsa for 23 years as a Commercial Artist.

She was a well-known Choctaw Indian Artist. A winner of over 100 major awards, both nationally and internationally. The latest honor was her induction into the Master's division of artists of The Five Civilized Tribes.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy McCarty Woolley. Survivors include: children, Mark Mauldin, Lisa Mauldin, Jerry Mauldin, all of Tulsa and Steve Mauldin, Chicago; grandchildren, Marlana, Jack, Shaina and Kaitlyn; brother, Pat D. McCarty, Eureka Springs, AR and sister, Valjean McCarty Hessing, Onarga, IL; aunt, Nadine Cook and uncle, Fred L. Beck, both of Tulsa.

She will be greatly missed by all family, extended family and numerous friends. Jane's heart and home were never empty; she met no strangers. She knew that the love and closeness of her family and friends were the most important elements in her life.

Graveside service 10 a.m., Friday, October 31, 1997 at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Collinsville, OK. Collinsville Funeral Home, 371-2111. (Tulsa World)
