ADRIEN 'CHASE' CHASSE


FORT KENT - Adrien "Chase" Chasse, 93, died Feb. 24, 2009, at a residential health care facility. Chase was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Fort Kent, the son of Louis and Alice (Daigle) Chasse. Chase enjoyed sharing his talents with anyone, especially his wood working skills, tilling the soil for gardens and providing electrical work for private homes, and in helping Santa during the Christmas season. Chase served in the U.S. Army from August 1940 to receiving an honorable discharge in July 1945. He proudly served his country in the battle/campaigns of Sicily, Naplee-Foggia, Rome Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Adrien and Valeda Celina Daigle were married July 18, 1945, in Hartford, Conn., and shared 41 years together as husband and wife. Chase and his wife eventually returned to Fort Kent where he began a longtime employment with Maine Public Service Co., May 1947 and retired in October 1978. Adrien was a life member of VFW Lozier O'Grady Post 9609 and Knights of Columbus Council 1934, both of Fort Kent. Along with being a loving husband to the late Valeda (Daigle) Chasse, who passed away in 1987; and devoted father to his late son, Llewellyn Lloyd Chasse, who passed away in 1951 at the young age of 5, Chase is survived by his children, James of Prescott, Ariz., Danny and his wife, Teodora, of Littleton, Nora (Chasse) Thibodeau and her husband, Bob, of Fort Kent, Nola (Chasse) Sirois and her husband, Peter, of Fort Kent, along with their two daughters, Michelle Sirois and Nicole (Sirois) Marquis and her husband, Chad. Chad and Nicole blessed Chase with two beautiful great-grandsons, Walker and Wyatt, whom he treasured dearly. Chase's only surviving siblings are his sisters, Marie Emelia Chasse Flannigan of Mapleton and Olivette Marie Chasse Hebert of Lewiston. Chase was predeceased by his wife and son; and siblings, Clovis, Raoul, Henry, Rose Anna Michaud, Edna Landry, Marie Cyr, Josephat, Louis, Ligouri, Claude, Felix, Valier and Joseph Chasse. Friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial, with full military honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held May 11, in the parish cemetery.
