Andreas Pevernage was born in Harelbeke (Flanders). He became singing-master at the church of St. Salvator in Bruges on the 21 th. of January 1563. Later that year he became singing-master at the cathedral of Onze Lieve Vrouw in Kortrijk. In 1564 he became chaplain in Kortrijk. During the religious wars of 1577/1578 he fled the city and moved to Antwerp. On the 29 th. of October 1585 he was appointed choirmaster at the cathedral in Anwerp. He also helped to rebuild the music library in Anwerp. He remained in Antwerp until his death in 1591 and was burried in the cathedral of Antwerp. Andreas Pervernage ws a skilled composer of both sacred and secular music of wich about 235 pieces remain. In Harelbeke can be found the Andreas Pevernagestraat (see picture)
