Harriet Hattie Mullen was born in 1857; she was the first of five children of James and Ann Mullen to be born in Portage, Wisconsin. She grew up on the family farms there and later in Watopa, Minnesota. She changed her name to Hallie and later, to Hattie. In 1875, she was working as a domestic servant for William and Emaline Whitney in Plainview, Minnesota. She was a young adult when the family moved to Wabasha City. Here her trail runs cold. More than likely she was married at Saint Felix Church, where the family worshiped however the church records were destroyed by fire. ~~ provided by contributor: Phil Mullen
