Ethel Newsome Tackett, 61, of Hi Hat, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born April 29, 1943, in Ligon, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Draxie Caudill Newsome. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, at Teaberry.
She is survived by her husband, Curt Tackett.
Other survivors include two sons: Michael Tackett and Charles (Shelia( Tackett, both of Hi Hat; one daughter Margaret (Teddy) Hall of Hi Hat; one brother, David Newsome of Huntington, Indiana; six sisters: Carol Sue Hamilton, Marlene Hamilton, and Geraldine Shaw, all of Huntington, Indiana, Violet Newsome, and Sharlene Rackey, both of Hi Hat, and Kathy Howell of Minnie; and five grandchildren: Michael, Andrew, Austin, Kelly and Alex.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Newsome.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 28, at 11 a.m., at the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church, at Teaberry, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Tackett Family Cemetery, at Hi Hat, under the directino of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is at the church.
