My Mom. A 1933 graduate of Beaver High School, she attended Bluefield College, Concord College, and Duke University, and taught school in Brushfork prior to working in the War Department during WWII. She had great stories of wartime Washington, DC, particularly about shopping at Garfinckels and enjoying the Christmas windows at Woodies. Though crippled with rheumatoid arthritis for many years, she never lost her intellectual vigor, sharp wit, or love for Christ. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, staying active as long as she could.

My Mom had more courage than anybody I ever met...she kept going despite her RA longer than anyone would have thought possible...the last six years in a nursing home were hard, but she always retained a positive outlook.
