Son of Alexander Judkins and Lucinda M. (Beasley) Hunt, Sr.

John Thomas Hunt enlisted in the C.S.A. on July 8, 1861 of the Barnesville Blues, Capt. G. M. McDowell's Company. The Blues became part of the 3rd., Battalion, GA Infantry, of Col. M. A. Stovall. Elected 2nd., Lt., 1862; wounded Murfereesboro, TN, Dec. 31, 1862; transferred to Co., B, 4th. Battalion GA Sharpshooters, as 2nd., Lt., Mar. 4, 1863. He was Commander of the Pike Camp of Confederate Veterans. During the first two years he was in the same Company with his brother, Pvt. James Lawrence Hunt, when in 1863 Maj. John T. Hunt was transferred to Gen.W. B Bate's brigade this is when the war separated the two brothers.
